This page is for Virginia Beach Surf Kayakers and Waveskiers to post WHO is going out, WHEN and WHERE.
thx jerry, anyone know the outlook for today and thursday? jeff b
Was out this morning on incoming tide 8-10:30 a.m. and there were some fun swells, little or no wind to mess them up. The general surfing area in the 1-4th street zone wasn't terribly crowded and I strayed further south than usual. I'd imagine there would be still some swell this afternoon. Jerry
Anyone going to see if there are some swells tomorrow afternoon?
Lance - I saw that you and Steve(?) were headed down to the oceanfront on Saturday. Hope you had fun. ~ dave
Yep, went out thur,fri,sat,sun,and yesterday-LK
Has anyone been out the last few days? Jerry
Check out the Craigslist Islander sit-on-top surf kayak for sale: http://norfolk.craigslist.org/boa/729112511.html
Yep...not bad today at S-Turns. 2 ft and fun.
Are there waves when the temps are in the 90s?
Thanks , It is the Wyndam and I found out that it is the only block of Deeded beach that the city has no jurisdication over, they have there own lifeguards, they allow no surfing however. I believe the North End needs a surfing park similar to 1 thru 5th that hopefully has room for us and a sandbar.
Ramada renamed to Wyndam???
It's the Ramada.
It may have something to do with the Ramada Hotel, else its just an oops by the city.
North End question, why does the regulation exclude 57th street is it OK to surf there Fr, Sat , Sun during Summer?
Rachel 4th street to 6th street, and croatan surf area are your best bets, if ya go to the north end 40th tru 60th streets .. make sure you follow the the city ordinaces or as i like to call them the surf rules so as not to get a ticket.. they are posted on a signs at the north end around the beach accesses
Hey, I will be in the VA Beach/Sandbridge area from 5-18 thru 5-31. I am a whitewater paddler (never tried true surf kayaking), but I'm taking my Wave Sport EZ with me to give surfing a try. If anyone has any suggestions for places to go, surfing tips, etc. Please let me know. Thanks, Rachel
Thanks, Don! Jerry
Jerry, Glen tried 48th this afternoon. Head high sets, but closing out at high tide. Difficult to find the shoulder. He moved to 4th and said it was much better. Clean long rides. He is going to 4th again at 0630 tomorrow morning. Think that's the place to go. Don
Guys, appreciate any beta...going to try to head out to the beach in the a.m. before low tide. Any suggestions would be great! Thx Paddlehead Jerry
ok so who is going where this afternoon, northend southend lemme know JeffB, my new number 51three-730seven
PS. It may be much better later, when the tide comes in. Or maybe not...
Went out at 63rd at lunch for about an hour today... I stepped over the top of the dune and saw; an 8 foot wall 2 blocks long dumping all at once. No peel, no shoulder, no mercy. And another one right behind it. That's pretty much how it was for me. BIG, closed out, and not ridable. It took a 30 minute struggle to get to the outside. And I'm not bad at getting out! I rode one wave. A near vertical drop in, followed by a totally closed out foam ride to the beach. Still good to get on the water again though! ~mark
Wednesday through Saturday looks great for surf. I'm looking at some before work aor early evening sessions, Glen
just checking...
Good job taking care of the spammers. What a hassle! Jerry
Cou;d someone email me the link for posting to VBSK. My email is gmccoid@embarqmail.com. I'm not the spammer, I'm a member. Thanks, Glenn McCOid
The old link should work, but not take you to a posting page. At least PEOPLE are finding the page and not others...
Last one out, turn off the lights.
Yes, my old link still works. Don
Can everyone find the page ok?
Let's see what happens...
